What is floating?

Floating is the process of installing waterproof paper, lath (chicken wire), then a mixture of sand, cement, and lime.  Mixture is then applied to walls at certain thicknesses to create a flat and level substrate for tile installation.  This process also needs a waterproofed shower-pan installed, hotmop being the preferred waterproofing method for lifetime longevity.
